Disneyland Paris is one of the most magical places you can holiday and if you are thinking about visiting on your next getaway, we have some unmissable tips that will help you make your trip even more special. Whether you are thinking of surprising your little ones with a visit to Mickey Mouse and the gang, or perhaps you are a Disney adult planning your very first visit, there are so many ways to make your Disneyland Paris getaway extra special. To sprinkle some fairy dust on your planning, here are 10 tips to make your Disneyland Paris holiday magical.

1. Stay onsite in an official Disney Hotel

When you visit Disneyland Paris, you have the option of staying in an official Disney hotel, onsite or you can choose to stay offsite in a nearby hotel. But if the full Disney immersion and magic is what you seek from your trip, we highly recommend you stay onsite in an official Disneyland Hotel. Guests who stay in a Disney hotel get to enjoy a huge range of perks such as your park tickets being included for the duration of your stay, early park entry, character meet and greets in your hotel, free transportation and so much more. You are also a short walk from all hotels into both of the parks.

Disney hotels are also fantastically themed. Toy Story fans will love Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne, Superhero fanatics will love Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel and Lightening McQueen lovers will adore Disney’s Santa Fe Hotel. Disney onsite hotels also cater to all budgets so there is something for everyone. The official onsite Disney hotels that include your theme park tickets for the duration of your stay are:

  • Disney’s Santa Fe Hotel (2*)
  • Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne (3*)
  • Disney’s Sequoia Lodge Hotel (3*)
  • Disney’s Newport Bay Club (4*)
  • Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel (4*)
  • Disneyland Hotel (5*)

2. Magic Hour

We mentioned above that guests staying onsite get extra time in the parks in the morning and this time is so aptly named Magic Hour! Available to guests in all of the above hotels, Magic Hour gives you access to both of the theme parks an hour before they open to the general public. This time is precious and ideal for you to ride your favourite rollercoasters and attractions before the parks get busy. Before you travel, be sure to think about how you want to use your Magic Hour so that you have a game plan when the gates open each morning. Download your Disneyland Paris app and get planning which rides you will head for each morning.

Magic Hour is also a fantastic time to get photos and videos with Sleeping Beauty’s stunning castle before the general public arrive at the parks.

3. Book a character breakfast

One of the most magical experiences you can book for your trip to Disneyland Paris with Click&Go Holidays is a character breakfast, especially if you have younger children. The character breakfast takes place in Plaza Gardens in the main Disneyland Park and it is a precious experience. As you eat your delicious breakfast, you will have six beloved Disney characters visit your table and spend time with you and your family for photos and autograph signings. The characters are so engaging and really try to make everyone smile with each encounter. For an added magic bonus, book the first sitting for breakfast and you will be one of the first people of the day to walk down Main Street USA to get photos of the castle with no one in the background! Magical.

4. Character meet and greets

While Disneyland Paris is home to the most exciting and thrilling of rides, there is magic to be found in many forms and one of the best experiences you can enjoy in the parks is meeting your favourite characters. On your Disneyland Paris app, you will see the meeting points and times to meet your favourite characters for both parks so be sure to add some hugs and high fives with Winnie the Pooh, Goofy and Woody to your bucket list.

There is also always the possibility that you might come across some ad-hoc meet and greets as well! Keep an eye out for Mickey Mouse down by Phantom Manor and Minnie Mouse over by Cowboy Cookout!

5. Enjoy the shows

Oh, the shows! Another incredible way to experience the magic of Disneyland Paris! In Disneyland Park, be sure to catch A Million Splashes of Color, the iconic Disney Stars on Parade and at night, you can’t miss Disney’s Electrical Sky Parade and Disney’s Illuminations, both which take place before park closing each night.

Over in Walt Disney Studios Park, the choice of shows is incredible. Be sure to check out Mickey and the Magician, Frozen: A Musical Invitation, Stitch Live! and TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure.

The above shows are just a sample of what you can enjoy your during your trip and we recommend you try and see as many as you can as the shows will truly make your holiday even more memorable.

6. Disney Premier Access

Disneyland Paris is a popular theme park and queuing is to be expected like in all major theme parks. But if you want to make the most of your time and avoid the queues, you can purchase Premier Access passes. There are two ways to avail of Disney’s Premier Access. The Unlimited Access are essentially a fast pass that allows you to skip the queues on your favourite rides for a day. You can use this pass once on each ride in the day. However, if there is just one or two rides you don’t fancy queuing for, you can purchase the One Access pass which gives you the chance to jump the queue on a ride of your choice.

7. Disney PhotoPass

Capturing your special memories just got even easier with Disney’s PhotoPass. This fantastic magical add on gives you the opportunity to have all of your best moments in Disney captured by professional photographers during your trip. With it, you can have photos taken with characters as well photos at PhotoPass points throughout the park and of course your best ride moments will be captured as well!

8. Embrace the bubbles

If you are travelling with toddlers and young children, chances are they will be entranced by the bubbles throughout the parks (mine were!). This is your sign to buy the bubble wands. These little wands of magic are available in many shapes and sizes and feature all popular characters and they honestly bring so much joy to kids. They are also easily packable into your suitcase to bring home as a token of the magical time you had as a family in Disney.

9. Plan your days before you travel

Most people visit Disneyland Paris for 3-4 days. With this window of time, its important that you think about what your plans are for each day of your trip before you travel to ensure you make the most of your time so that you can tick everything off your Disney bucket list. Every family’s plans will look different to another families depending on their favourite characters, rides, age groups etc so it is important to think about your time in relevance to your family or group.

If you are planning your first trip to Disneyland Paris and you don’t know where to start with choosing the best hotel for your holiday, you have come to the right place! We are sure you have heard about staying onsite versus offsite from those who have been, but truly what are the differences and what are the key hotels you should consider when you are planning your own holiday? Our team are experts on all things Disneyland Paris and in this blog post, we want to help you plan your first visit in a way that simplifies where you should and could stay on your trip. This is our guide on the best places to stay near Disneyland Paris.

What is the difference between staying onsite and offsite at Disneyland Paris?

For those who may be unsure, staying offsite simply means that you are not staying in an official Disney hotel at the theme parks, but rather in a hotel that is located close to the parks. Offsite hotels can be a better option for those on a budget, those who require more beds/rooms if your family is larger and those who prefer to have self-catering facilities during their trip versus just a hotel room.  Staying offsite is also preferred by those who plan to see and do more on their holiday outside of visiting the theme parks themselves, such as a day trip to Paris or perhaps at the nearby shopping outlet and mall.

Another key differentiator between onsite and offsite hotel choosing, is the park tickets. When you stay onsite in an official Disney hotel, your park passes are automatically included in the cost of your holiday for your entire stay. And, when you stay offsite, you get to choose what days you want to visit the Disney parks and just book and pay for passes on those days only.

Disneyland Paris Hotels – Onsite Official Disney Hotels

If you would like to have the Disneyland Paris theme parks on your doorstep and within walking distance, staying onsite in one of the official Disneyland Paris hotels may be the best option for you. At Disneyland Paris, there is a hotel to suit every type of holidaymaker and budget. For those on a budget, Disney’s 2* Santa Fe Hotel is a great lead-in Disney hotel that will give you a comfortable, clean stay in a Cars themed room. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the parks like all Disney on-site hotels, but you can also easily walk to the parks from here and it will take about 15 minutes. Right next door, you will find Disney’s 3* Cheyenne Hotel, a Toy Story themed hotel that will transport you right into the heart of a wild west town! This hotel is also a short 15-minute walk to the park, and you could even do it in ten minutes if you are speedy on your feet!

If you prefer to be a little closer to the action, Disney’s 3* Sequoia Lodge Hotel is a very popular Disney hotel that is located on the lakefront beside Disney Village – an area packed with restaurants for all budgets and great shopping. This gorgeous, woodland hotel is Bambi themed and will transport you to a mountain resort with its quaint décor, warm, welcoming atmosphere, and its stunning forest surroundings. The theme parks are a short 10-minute walk from Sequoia Lodge, with Disney Village just across the lake and about five minutes stroll from the hotel. Disney’s Sequoia Lodge also has an onsite indoor/outdoor swimming pool.

For those who prefer a 4* hotel, there are two great options at Disneyland Paris. Disney’s 4* Newport Bay Club is one of the most popular hotels for Irish holidaymakers visiting Disneyland Paris and this impressive, nautical themed hotel, like Disney’s Sequoia Lodge, sits on the lake next to Disney Village. The hotel also has an indoor/outdoor swimming pool for those more relaxing moments during your trip.

If you favour a hotel that is contemporary and modern in style and you want to splash out for your trip, check out Disney’s 4* Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. This hotel was recently renovated and transports guests into the realm of superheroes and all things Marvel. It is a short 2–3-minute stroll to Disney Village and less than ten minutes’ walk to the parks. Like both the Sequoia Lodge and the Newport Bay Club, this hotel features an indoor/outdoor swimming pool.

Lastly, for the most enchanting of stays, the 5* Disneyland Hotel which is reopening this January 2024, is Disney’s flagship hotel for Disneyland Paris. Enter a world of royalty at this hotel and live like a true prince or princess. This hotel is the nearest hotel to the Disney parks and in fact, it is part of the iconic entrance to the main Disneyland Park as it sits atop of the entrance.

It is also important to note that when you choose to stay in an official Disney hotel, you get some extra benefits. Firstly, you get early park entry into both parks before the general public. Each hotel also offers complimentary bus transportation to and from the parks. And, when you book an onsite Disney hotel, your park tickets are automatically included in the cost of your holiday for the entire duration of your trip. Staying onsite also means you are immersed in the magic of Disney for the entire duration of your holiday so you never know what Disney characters you might bump into around your hotel!

Val De France Hotels – Offsite Option One

Val De France is one of the most popular areas for visitors to stay near Disneyland Paris, if you choose to stay offsite. Located a short 10–15-minute drive to the parks, the Val De France area is home to some of the most popular off-site hotels for Irish holidaymakers. In terms of two- and three-star hotels, you will find the 3* Explorers Hotel, the 3* Campanile Val De France Hotel and the 2* B&B Hotel in this area. But our recommended hotels in this area are the 4* Dream Castle Hotel and the 4* Grand Magic Hotel. Both of these hotels have had recent renovations and offer a more high-end hotel experience at a great, budget friendly price. Dream Castle is ideal for those who enjoy understated luxury while the Grand Magic will transport you to another world with its immersive theming throughout. Both of these hotels have indoor pools, while the Dream Castle also has an outdoor pool, set amongst its stunning French manicured gardens. The 3* Explorers Hotel, another popular option in this area also has a pool and is popular with Irish holidaymakers.

And while Val De France is just minutes from Disney and home to such popular hotels, it is important to note that there is not much else in this area. Each of the hotels have dining options and amenities on-site and the bustling area of Val D’Europe is a short uber or taxi ride away (approximately 15 minutes’ drive) if you wish to shop and enjoy an evening meal out away from the bubble of Disney.

Val D’Europe Hotels – Offsite Option Two

Val D’Europe is a true hidden gem for all it offers as an area to stay. This gorgeous town is Parisian inspired and home to fantastic accommodation options but also excellent shopping, dining, and nightlife. If you want to visit Disneyland Paris, but you also want a city break feel, Val D’Europe could be the area for you. Built around a gorgeous square, which has numerous bars and restaurants to enjoy, Val D’Europe is a bustling town that’s a short 10-minute drive to Disney or just one 2–3-minute train stop away! You will also find a huge shopping centre here, which has a large Primark and a large supermarket here as well as plenty of high street stores. Right next door, you also have La Vallee Village, an outlet shopping centre that is jam packed with high-end stores offering goods at a fraction of their normal cost.

Accommodation choices in this area offer apartments as well as standard hotel rooms. And, with the supermarket just steps away from them all, you can easily stock up your fridge and have plenty of snacks and food at your fingertips if this type of accommodation is more your style. Some of our top recommendations on where to stay in Val D’Europe includes the 3* Adagio Serris Val D’Europe which is a three-star hotel that offers a four-star standard stay. The hotels also has an outdoor swimming pool onsite. The 3* Moxy Paris Val D’Europe is a newer hotel to this area and opened in 2022. This hotel is funky, modern and makes great use of colour throughout. For those wanting a more high-end hotel stay, check out the 4* Relais Spa Chessy Val D’Europe, a fantastic hotel with comfortable, modern rooms, excellent customer service and an indoor pool and spa.

Additional hotels you will find in this area include the 3* Adagio Marne La Vallee Val D’Europe, the 4* Residome Val D’Europe and the 4* Hotel L’Elysee Val D’Europe.

Staycity Aparthotel near Disneyland Paris

Another popular place to stay near Disneyland Paris is the 4* Staycity Aparthotel near Disneyland Paris, an Irish owned accommodation option that is located in the Marne La Vallee area which is approximately 15 minutes by car to the Disney parks. This is a modern accommodation option with apartments that can suit larger families. It is located alongside a lake and has an outdoor pool as well as a complimentary shuttle that runs to and from the parks during peak times in the mornings and evenings. It is important to note that outside of this hotel, there is not much to do, though like Val De France, the area of Val D’Europe is a 15 minute taxi or Uber drive away.

So, there you have it, a quick guide to the best places to stay near Disneyland Paris. We know planning a trip to this magical theme park destination can be daunting, especially if it is your first time visiting, but our team of Disney experts who know Disneyland Paris inside out are here seven days a week to help you plan the trip you and your family have always dreamed of. Once upon a time in a land just over 900km away, there lived 17,000 princesses, princes and magical creatures who loved to make dreams come true. In fact, there was only one thing these fairy tale folk loved more and that was doing it all at Christmas time. We all know the happiest place in Europe is Disneyland Paris and that the most wonderful time of the year is fast approaching, so why not combine the two for a spectacular send off to 2021.

If you decide to be one of the 12 million people who visit the resort just outside the French capital annually, you will find a stocking packed with entertainment. On top of the regular favourite cast members, thrilling rides, shows and parades, Mickey and his amis are sprinkling some festive fairy dust throughout the 4,800-acre park.

Disney’s Enchanted Christmas 2021 and New Year’s Eve Party

Brand new for the 2021 Christmas season, Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade will begin on the 13th November which also features the other famous character in red. Kids of all ages will be spellbound as their favourite Disney movie characters parade with Santa Claus as he lights up the giant Christmas Tree.

From December 21st the spectacular illuminations will be in full display which include twinkling fairy lights marking the way from Main Street USA to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. To add even more festive flavour, guests can enjoy a Christmas Market complete with seasonal treats and souvenirs. And those extreme yuletiders among you can even opt to have your hotel room decked out for the occasion.

Disneyland Paris 30th Anniversary

But the Christmas and New Year celebrations are not the only exciting events in the Disney 2022 calendar. Next March marks the 30 year anniversary of the park’s opening and the cast members are planning a party of a lifetime.

Since opening its doors in 1992, the second Walt Disney park outside of the USA, has expanded its offering to visitors with franchises such as Pixar, Star WarsTM and MARVEL so there have never been more reasons to experience the three decades of dream fulfilling magic.

So whether you have a child or are simply a child at heart, Disneyland Paris is inviting you to Wish Upon A Star, Be Our Guest and experience A Whole New World.

While some people are happy to immerse themselves in the world of Disney for 3 or 4 days, some are content with just one day. With all the attractions, shows and characters to see in Disneyland Paris, can it really be done in a day? Our answer to this is yes it can! Organisation, advance planning, and a solid itinerary is essential for one day in Disneyland Paris. Anyone can enjoy the magic of Disneyland Paris even if it’s just for the day!

We have put together a list of things to keep in mind when planning for your day of magic…

Disneyland Paris App

The Disneyland Paris app is essential for your visit to Disney especially if you’re planning on doing it in a day! This is the perfect way to plan your day down to every second. Explore the list of attractions, things to do, restaurants etc and pick out what you want to prioritise. This gives you the time to buy fast access for the attractions or shows that are top of your list!

If there is a certain restaurant you want to dine in, make sure to book it here. The app also has a very useful interactive map which you can use to navigate the parks and save you precious time. This also allows you to see how long the wait time is for any other attractions and shows, so you might have time to squeeze in more if the queues are short!

Disneyland Paris Opening Times

If you’re visiting Disneyland Paris in one day, make sure to arrive early to make the most of your day out! The Disneyland Park is open from 9:30 AM to 11:00 PM. The Walt Disney Studios Park is open from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. However, park hours are subject to change so make sure to check on the official website what the opening and closing times for the day you’re visiting are. Holidays or special occasions may also affect the hours.

Getting to Disneyland Paris

Flying into Charles de Gaulle airport, it couldn’t be easier to get to Disneyland Paris. You simply go to Terminal 2 for the high-speed Disneyland Paris Attractions. Tickets are around €17.50 and will get you to the gates of Disneyland Paris in roughly 15 minutes. If you plan on visiting Disneyland Paris as part of a city break in Paris, you can get the RER A regional train to Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy Station (the name of Disneyland’s train station). This train departs from Paris Gare de Lyon station and will take 37 minutes to arrive in Disneyland Paris. The ticket costs around €8.

Disneyland Paris Park’s

walt disney studios park ratatouille attraction

There are two main parks in Disneyland Paris: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. The great thing about Disneyland Paris is that, although there are two parks, everything is very compact and walkable – no need to wait for shuttle buses between the two! Disneyland Park is the main park and is home to the iconic castle, Main Street, the majority of the character ‘Selfie Spots’ and the bulk of the rides and attractions.

Walt Disney Studios is a smaller park that brings you behind the magic of Disney films. Here you can see how they animate, how they use special effects and you’ll get to experience some of the Pixar attractions such as Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Ratatouille.

Disneyland Paris Attractions

big thunder mountain ride disneyland paris

Our advice is to download the Disneyland Paris app. Check out which attractions have the longest wait time and plan to do those first thing, during lunchtime or later in the evening. Attractions with a 30-45minute or more wait time tend to include Big Thunder Mountain, It’s a Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Star Wars the Adventure Continues and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril.

Pick a handful of attractions in each park that are your must-see/do. Try and squeeze in as much as possible in the Disneyland Paris park before lunch. To avoid food queues, head to the Disney Village for lunch or pre-book your lunch in the park. After your lunch, visit the Walt Disney Studios Park and complete your list of attractions!

One Day in Disneyland Paris

magic kingdom disneyland paris

If you only have a day at Disneyland Paris, then perhaps opt for the Disneyland Park as this has all the most popular attractions and the breathtaking Magic Kingdom Castle. Use your Disneyland Paris mobile app to navigate your way around! Head to your favourite rides first to avoid disappointment and enjoy a day of fun.

Make sure you are comfortable as it will be a long day! It’s also smart to bring some of your own snacks and water as it will save you time and money. This will keep you going throughout the day until you have lunch or dinner which you should reserve. If you’re planning to spend the full day, then make sure to stick around for the firework display for the ultimate Disneyland Paris experience!

With precise planning and a good itinerary, you can spend one magical day at Disneyland Paris! Are you ready to plan your visit to Disneyland Paris? Enjoy all your favourites and have a magical time with Click&Go Holidays!

The magical world of Disneyland Paris is opening its doors to the public. Mickey Mouse and all his friends will be welcoming guests back to the park from the 17th of June. With new attractions and a new hotel, Disneyland Paris is back and better than ever.

So what do you need to know for your next visit to Disneyland Paris?

Find the right Disneyland Paris package

A visit to Disneyland Paris is always filled with wonder and awe. Whether you choose to stay inside or outside the park, your visit will make memories that last a lifetime.

A Disneyland Paris package is a great stress-free way to organise your visit and often offer the best value. If you book a package staying in one of the official Disneyland Paris hotels, not only are your park tickets included in the price, but you’ll also get to access the park early and avoid queues at some of the most popular attractions.

Plus, in 2022 Disneyland Paris will be celebrating its 30th anniversary so there will be lots of special surprises and holiday deals for you to enjoy! The celebrations for Disneyland Paris’ 30th anniversary begin on the 6th of March.

Enhanced health & safety measures

Although the thought of exploring a theme park may get your COVID senses tingling, the team at Disneyland Paris have introduced a wealth of new enhanced cleaning and safety measures.

Some measures include:

  • Face masks: All crew, third-party operators and guests over the age of 6 are required to wear face masks at all times, except when eating.
  • Hand sanitising: Over 2,000 hand sanitising and washing stations have been opened around the park. The main places you’ll find them are at the entrance/exit of attractions, restaurants and all shops.
  • Enhanced cleaning: Before reopening, every aspect of the park from the attraction to restaurant kitchens will undergo a deep enhanced clean. Throughout the day, key touchpoints and attractions will be disinfected.

All cast members have been thoroughly trained to help guide guests through the new measures and encourage social distancing during their time in the Disney parks.

What’s new in Disneyland Paris

For fans of the Marvel universe, the 4* New York Hotel has been transformed into the brand new Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. With over 350 pieces of Marvel artwork adorning its walls, The Art of Marvel is the perfect retreat for any fan of this iconic franchise. In this contemporary hotel, you’ll feel like you’re in the heart of cosmopolitan Manhattan. Whether you want to unwind with a cocktail in the Skyline Bar, become the next Stan Lee designing comic books or meet Spider-Man, you can do it all in this hotel.

If Pixar is more you, then make sure to check out the new Cars attraction! Cars ROAD TRIP will bring you along the American Southwest and you’ll get to see all your favourite Cars characters.

Download the Disneyland Paris App

The Disneyland Paris App is an invaluable tool during your visit to the iconic park. From a handy map of the park to wait times, walking times and booking your meals, it’s an essential download.

Now, to help ease queues and ensure people don’t congregate, a new Standby feature has been added to the app. This feature will allow you to virtually join a queue for an attraction and have a specific 30min time slot for it. This is available on a number of the top attractions including:

  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain
  • Autopia ®
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror TM
  • Crush’s Coaster ®
  • Ratatouille: The Adventure

Selfie Spots

You’re never too big or too old to want a photo with your favourite Disney, Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars character! To make the experience as safe as possible, there are a variety of new ‘Selfie Spots’ dotted around the park. Instead of the traditional meet and greet, you’ll now find everyone from Olaf to Darth Vader popping up around the park for a (socially distanced) selfie opportunity. You can find the locations for your character selfies on the Disneyland Paris app.
